I have had many people ask me about this aspect of physical mediumship. Spirit Art / Spirit Drawing / Soul Painting are all terms used by psychic mediums to describe this skill. However, not all psychic mediums work the same way. So, all I can do is explain how this process unfolds for me and my clients.
When I do a Spirit Drawing reading, often it is in person. I have done them at psychic fairs, which normally offers 15 minute readings, however because of the nature of this type of process, I require at least 30 minutes. That time allows me to enter into a trance-like state, in which I hear, see and feel Spirit as they channel through me, and use specific images, colors, and strokes in the drawing to pass on messages. The changes the picture takes from beginning to finish, are all elements that help to create a reading for the client, as well, as explain and define what or who the drawing represents.
Every drawing is unique. However, if you see my online slideshow of drawings, you will come across a black & white drawing next to a color drawing, in which you can see amazing similarities. Those drawings were done on separate days, and it wasn't until I was putting them into my portfolio that I noticed this. So, I placed them side by side. I believe that they represent the same Spirit being, which is personal to me, but the strokes and color elements indicate special messages for me, given at those particular times.
Part of the in-person process for a client really involves, sitting and watching, while being mindful of what they are interested in having Spirit teach them or acknowledge. The client is allowed to interect. Because I am in a trance-like state, often I do not remember what is being said while I speak during the drawing. For that, I allow the client to take notes, and I also offer the session to be taped. That way, the client is not only receiving a reading, but they are also going home with a piece of art, suitable for framing, as well as an audio recording of the session so they can re-examine what the experience held for them.
Now, because I also offer these Spirit Drawings online at times, potential clients ask me how that works in comparison to an in-person session. It is essentially the same, however I rely on the intent of the client being mindful of the session's date and time, as well as their thought energy being open to any Spirit messages. Because all things are simply energy, working by distance is no different than working in person. Thought energy is extremely powerful, and is the basis for most of what we experience in our lives, as well as those things we manifest, like health, money and relationships. With that in mind, I am able to connect with your thought energy as well as the energy from your Spirit Guides, and loved ones who have passed on.
Some people have never had a reading because they are "afraid to hear something bad" or afraid of what may come through, in the event is scares them. This really is FAR from what actually happens. Spirit passes no judgment, and therefore there is no "scary" element whatsoever, except from the client who manifests the fear from their own anxiety. Our Spirit Guides exist not only to assist us on our Life Path, but also it is part of what they are called to do for their own Soul Growth. When we deny loved ones or Spirit Guides to make contact, we are not only blocking our own Soul Progress, but theirs as well. If we keep that in mind and we are open and accepting to messages that Spirit offers, regardless of the manner in which it is received, then we are utilizing a powerful force hat not only aides us in this lifetime, but overall in our Soul Growth.
Some people wonder and think that being in a trance means I am possessed. That is very untrue. What is happening is that I am allowing Spirit to use the energy from my body, to manifest. This takes many years of disciplined training and work, and is highly guided by protective prayer and meditation. Because I offer myself, and "get out of my own way" in order to trance, and allow Spirit to come through, I rely on that protection so as to not harm my own body as a result. It is an extremely draining process - and is far more draining than a typical psychic reading involving divination methods such as Tarot, and Runes or Tea Leaves.
This process would aso answer why readings involving physical mediumship would be more costly than a typical psychic reading, like Tarot. The energy involved is extremely precious. Actually no price can accurately be put on it. But, because of time involved, and energy and manifestation of Spirit, and physical aspect of a drawing, it can in no way be compared to a Tarot reading. Spirit Art readings can start easily at $60 for a half hour, and depending on the time requested by a client, can climb even higher. And physical mediumship skills, especially Spirit Art are a rare offering.
Not all psychic mediums are Spirit Artists / Psychic Artists. Understanding what a physical psychic medium does, and learning the differences in being psychic and a medium will help a potential client seek out the kind of reading they would benefit from the most. Not all psychics are mediums, but all mediums are psychics.

In an end note - I also want to address that I do not stay "open" to trance at all times. That would be very dangerous to me, and ultimately exhaust me of all energy. That is why I don't offer my Spirit Drawings all the time. When I am particularly doing Spirit Work, in which I know I will be able to offer up that required energy, I do offer it.
